Faith Friends
At Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Primary School, our Faith Friends are a dedicated team of liturgy leaders from Upper Key Stage 2 who play a very important role in supporting the Catholic life and mission of our school. They are extremely positive role models who work closely with younger children across EYFS and KS1, helping them to grow in faith through prayer, reflection and worship. Each lunchtime, the Faith Friends are rotated to invite different children to join them in sessions centred around the Word of God and stories from the Bible. Together, they pray, sing, listen and reflect on important messages from scripture. The younger children are encouraged to respond to their learning through drawing pictures, writing prayers and sharing their ideas orally. Our Faith Friends show kindness, leadership and compassion in all that they do and are a truly fantastic team who make a valuable contribution to the spiritual life of our school community.
Service
Our Faith Friends came together to discuss ways in which we can make our school an even more welcoming and inviting place for everyone. As part of this, they reflected on our school mission, “As the family of God, with Jesus, we love, learn and enjoy,” and thought carefully about how we can live this out each day. The children decorated special rocks using key words and messages linked to our mission statement and placed them around school as thoughtful reminders of the importance of kindness, prayer, friendship, respect and living as followers of Jesus. This was a lovely opportunity for the children to share their faith creatively and help strengthen the Catholic life and mission of our school community.
